Cease fire and Hamas
Today I read the response of the Hamas leader to Israel’s decision to engage in at least a temporary cease-fire from the recent hostilities in Gaza. Of course in spite of the terrible humanitarian situation in Gaza and the obvious inability of the people to have any kind of a future under the leadership of Hamas - the religious dogma continues. Take it to the bank, Hamas will not cease...
The devil of mediocrity
This little outline by one of my favorite pastors and writers - Charles Swindoll was sent to me by one of our young adults in our congregation. it speaks right to one of the biggest enemies we all face and that’s the enemy of mediocrity. Enjoy, be challenged and thanks Viv.
EXCELLENCE by Charles R. Swindoll
1 Peter 2:12
Mediocrity is fast becoming the byword of our times. Every...
How do you spell - upset?
OK, small tear on my face… the Giants just lost. Bummer, all of my teams are out. Missed field goals… interceptions… bad calls. It’s over. Anyway I am happy for our friend Kurt Warner and the Cardinals. Who would have ever thought Arizona would be hosting a championship game with and 8-8 record - just two weeks ago. So goes the NFL. I did find it challenging last...
2009 "Extraordinary Verse"
This is the verse I have personally chosen for the year as I believe for the extraordinary. Grab on - it’s that good…
“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine according to His power at work within us” (Ephesians 3:20)

This is great little article to help all of us who take more bad pictures than we do good ones!
Happy New Year
Let me wish all you fellow blogites a happy new year. I am sure you’re like me and can’t believe 09 is here. Last year went fast - but it was a good year. Most of my life is wrapped up in my family and church and I guess that’s a good thing. I did get to travel to some new places and minister to some great people. I saw a couple of new amazing sights like Mount Ararat when I...

Thank you Hank Steinbrenner...
I wanted to finish my Christmas morning blog by personally thanking Hank Steinbrenner of the Yankees for the wonderful gifts of CC Sabathia; AJ Burnett; and now Mark the Tex man! You are so generous… thank you.
Don't miss the gift.
Last night (Christmas Eve) at church I shared a quick devotional thought during the service - I just wanted to pass those thoughts your way as reminder to those who were there and for those who weren’t something to think about.
In a nutshell by the end of this Christmas day more than likely every present under the tree will be unwrapped and move from the idea of being simply purchases by...
Insight into the original name of Jesus
Since it’s Christmas _ I thought you might enjoy or gain some insight into how the original name of Jesus came about. This is a little long, sorry - but it’s worth the read I think.
Today, as Christians we will celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Was the Christian Messiah the first to have that name, or were there a lot of Jesuses running around back then?
Many people shared the...
"Sin Scum" →
It’s this time of the year when we think more than ever about the name of Jesus and of course the very mission of the Messiah. Joseph was told in a dream, “give him the name Jesus because he will save his people from the sin”. We should all consider the power of the verse for our lives on a daily basis. First his name means God (Jehovah) saves. This reminds me God has a...

A Christmas thought...
This time of the year causes my imagination to run wild. God’s design for Christmas is so much bigger than we could ever imagine. Recently I read an interesting little tidbit in Rick Warren’s new book - The Purpose of Christmas… enjoy - but I encourage you to allow it to stretch your Christmas imagination:
“… we know that God is powerful and organized and that he...
God help the Broncos
I would be eternally grateful Lord if you would give the Denver Broncos a defensive line for Christmas! Obviously they have not had one for a couple of seasons now - so out of your generous grace if you could help them out before they totally blow their shot at the playoffs… I would be grateful.
If I am not missing it - I believe Demarcus Ware of the Cowboys personally has 19 quarterback...
Prince of Peace
Last night I just had to chuckle as the reporter in Iraq threw both of his shoes at President Bush in an obvious display of anger about the war and the sad state of affairs in Iraq today. (by the way great job secret service… what if that would have been something more lethal). Anyway, it made me mindful that this time of the year when we celebrate Christmas we recognize that one of the...
Christmas and Ben Stein
This commentary from Ben Stein brings what I believe is a good perspective on things. It’s a little long but worth the read:
The following was written by Ben Stein and recited by him on CBS Sunday Morning Commentary.
My confession: I am a Jew, and every single one of my ancestors was Jewish. And it does not bother me even a little bit when people call those beautiful lit up, bejeweled...
Galloping in the Galapagos
Last month Donna and I had a chance to do a little missions work in Ecuador and also go to the famous Galapagos Islands. What an amazing experience. Hope you enjoy the pics.
Christmas Majesty
I want to invite each and every one of you to let your imaginations take you to the heavenly scene that was taking place just hours before the Angel Gabriel was commissioned to engage Mary and inform her she was about to become great with child by the miraculous work of the Spirit.
Can you imagine the buzz around Heaven that something big was about to happen? Heaven’s company had awaited...
No Blogspiration
Well there’s a good chance no one will read this because it’s weeks since I have blogged. There has been very little “blogspiration” going on in my head and heart. Honestly, for those of you I don’t touch base with a lot I have just come through a time of walking pneumonia and some disc issues in my back. Tough stuff for a man who believes in divine healing - huh?...

Hey gang - travel has kept me from being able to work on this blog much. I did receive this interesting tidbit from a friend…enjoy.
The Majority of People Around the World Text in English

Election musings...
Well since I have been gone for awhile; I just have to think some of you out there might be wondering about my thoughts concerning last week’s election.
Let me start here… on Thursday night; Sam Huddleston the Ass’t Supt. of Northern Cal/Nevada spoke to us and it was super. First, you need to know Sam and his lovely wife Linda are African American so that made his comments...
I'm Back... did you miss me?
Well you may or may not have known that Donna and I were traveling over the past week - so I’ve been away from an internet connection for the past week. Actually we were at sea with the Assistant Superintendents of the A/G on a little conference cruise. Pretty good idea actually - no trouble finding a restaurant that could seat a lot of people. To be honest I think we only went a few...

A media and money election?
I wanted to weigh in on a couple of things about the election that I think are important. First of all I am saddened that our democratic system has now ABSOLUTELY been turned over to the media and money and not the general population.
It’s quite obvious our presidency is now following the way of the political trends we have seen here in NJ over the past few years. In our state we had both...

The power of influence
In 1768 a Christian minister named John Witherspoon became president of the College of New Jersey, now Princeton. While there he taught biblical principles of government to his students.
Of the 478 young men who were graduated during his tenure, writes author John Eidsmoe, “114 became ministers; 13 were state governors; 3 were U. S. Supreme Court judges; 20 were U.S. Senators; 33 were U. S....

Something to think about?
OK - here’s the deal with the election at hand let’s unlock the door of our closed minds and consider the following…
Let’s get this out of the way up front: I’m not a politically motivated person. Which is why I felt a tad out of place meeting with Barack Obama this summer. And talking to John McCain. And doing countless interviews about the faith and shifting political views of...
Bridal Song
This morning I did something I’ve never done before. I read the entire book of Song of Solomon in one setting. Now, not that it’s an amazing accomplishment - after all it’s only eight chapters - but I was amazed at how when you read it all the way through how it flows and how you get such a great slant on the message and the drama being played out throug Solomon’s...
Ecclesiastes - good advise...
My personal devotion time in this book has been rich as I have worked my way through the brain-twisters of each passage. Of course often Solomon was speaking from a worldly point of view (he calls vanity; or things under the sun) so you have to be careful to discern whether his statements are of the world or of God which he also brings out at certain points throughout the book.
But this morning...
