Bucket List
Although I haven’t seen the movie about the Bucket List and the guys who want to see all these cool places before they “kick the bucket” - it did get me thinking about some places I would love to see… Like Machu Pechu, in Peru and if all goes well this will be the year for the Galapagos… a dream!
However, I was reading today’s Travel section of the Record and...

"Out of Africa"
Tonight I finally caught up on an episode of “60 Minutes” I had Tivo’d a while back. One of the stories was about the raping of thousands of women and children in the Congo. It was absolutely heartbreaking. I had been told about this last year by one of our missionaries (name withheld) who works there, but to see a video account of the atrocity was another thing entirely.

A "Giant" Breakthrough
OK for all of you bloggers jumping on-line for a spiritual thought or two, this may be a little disappointing day. I will go so far as to say, the Nothing’s too hard for God theme has been amazing for me personally - in that I am seeing so many people who really believe it! Our times in the altar yesterday were really incredible. Loneliness is real - people feel it and it was awesome to...
Cold football; cold faith; cold feet
As the Saturday eve news is wrapping up the forecast for tomorrow is cold I mean almost everywhere freezing - like zero and even below… Brrr. Of course after all it is January so it shouldn’t shock us that a playoff game in Green Bay would be cold, huh. However it is a bummer that the bad weather does play a big role in the game. I mean how do you spell fumble and dropped pass. I...
A "Giant" relief
Well finally this year at least one of the teams I follow is bringing me some relief. In a year when the Buffs, Jets and Broncos came up with a combined record of 16 wins and 29 losses…football season was agonizing. But thank God after a terrible start the Giants are proving to be my Alka-Seltzer…oh what a relief it is.
And I love it they beat the Cowboys…and made Terrell...
An "out of the Box" kind of God
The last week or so I have been making my way through the minor prophets and rather enjoying the ride! I’m the first to admit they are not the easiest messages to understand, but it has been fun to chase a few rabbits and look into the historical setting behind each message. For instance, even this morning trying to establish whether or not Zephaniah was really directly related to King...
Sell-out crowds...
As we move toward the end of spiritual emphasis week and our week of prayer I want to report it has been really rich. I know a number of prayer meetings at the church have been really powerful. Thanks Resting Place folks and others who have prayed.
Our early morning prayer times have been invigorating…I just wish I didn’t watch the clock all night waiting for the alarm to go off at...
Jay Leno foopah
OK after endorsing a moving article supposedly by Jay Leno of all people (and found at the link to my son John’s blog) I find out from my daughter that some people who researched it found it to be something Leno used - but did NOT write. It came from a man named Craig R. Smith at worldnetdaily.com - so let’s give credit where it’s due. I am however glad that because of...

John recently posted a really good quote from none other than Jay Leno. It’s worth the read…makes one think.
Tough Critters
Two days into the week of prayer and it’s been interesting and challenging. First interesting because I am always amazed how God speaks when we are willing to stop and take a little extra time.
The longer I live it’s awesome to see God take our time when we seek him and make it so worthwile. Even though there were only four of us at 6am it was a rich time of worship and prayer...
Presidential primaries and cheating
Well, we are now a few days into the new year and since I am back in the grind it feels about like last year did…busy!
I am however, pumped about our new theme in church for the year - Nothing is too hard for God! Services this weekend should be awesome. Our vision meeting went well considering the temp outside was freeeeeezing. I say it again - we have awesome people.
OK now to vent a...
