South Africa Team Crusade final report!
Last night we finished the seven day long crusade here in the city of Soshanguve, SA.  It was really an amazing time.  By all accounts we finished the evening with a crowd in excess of 8000 and last night there were over 2000 of them in the altars - most receiving Christ for the first time ever!  What’s also thrilling about these kind of meetings is many are also filled with the Spirit the...

It ‘s a strange time in much of our world… while visiting here in South Africa we have seen the President of the nation and sixteen of his cabinet ministers also resign.  It’s bizzare to not only read about but think about being in country where it seems like no one is in charge! However, when I see what’s happening in our own nation and how we are teetering on very...

Yankee Stadium Boo-hoo
I was as sorry as most  we said so long to our beloved Yankee Stadium - the house that Ruth built.  I made my first trip there some 23 summers ago and have been there more times than I can count; but every time -even when the Yanks would lose - I still loved it.  The dogs were the best, the stadium - palatial- and the atmosphere always electric.  It was even fun running for your car to beat the...

Iraq... hmmm
Check this out - it was sent to me by a Chi Alpha worker… some interesting thoughts  - although I don’t fully agree with all this… VERY INTERESTING - 1. The Garden of Eden was in Iraq 2. Mesopotamia, which is now Iraq, was the cradle of civilization 3. Noah built the ark in Iraq 4. The Tower of Babel was in Iraq 5. Abraham was from Ur, which is in Southern Iraq 6. Isaac’s...

South Africa Team prayer request
Sunday afternoon, Donna and I have the joy taking 8 other people from our church to Pretoria South Africa to join our dear friends John and Anne Bosman for a crusade.  The area we are going to is a real spiritual challenge and we’re expecting over 40,000 people a night - so please pray for us every day.  I will also be helping conduct a Pastor’s and Leader’s training school...

Ain't it true! Hah...
After being married for  41 years, I took a careful look at my wife one day and  said,  ‘Honey, 41 years ago we had a cheap apartment, a cheap car, slept on a sofa bed and watched a 10-inch black and white TV, but I got to sleep  every night with a hot 22-year-old gal. Now I have a $500,000.00 home, a $45,000.00 car, nice big bed and plasma screen TV, but I’m sleeping with a...

Very good read.
I like to keep my cohorts informed on books and items I found that help with ministry and life in general.  Well, while preparing for last weeks message I picked up a copy of Dr. Henry Cloud’s book “The One Life Solution”.  It’s basically an expansion of his work on boundaries only written with business concept in mind. Well since church is definitely corporate in...

Hmmmm... Obama
Ok I am trying to be fair as the political wars heat up - and I even admit I was impressed by the prayer Mr. Obama at the Wailing Wall… blah; blah; blah. However, I just heard something through Bill Bennett’s radio program yesterday that brings me pause!  One of the men who oversees the broadcast feed that comes into Alaska made a very interesting and somewhat scary observation....

– Thanks Rick… so true.  Friends it’s my personal prayer - and my prayer for all our lives that in this consumer-minded culture we fight back by being willing and generous givers, and we don’t see it as a burden but a blessing. Don

Money, golf and a good God
This morning I have just come home from Florida - where the summer of amazing golf has continued.  God is good.  This week I was in missions meetings - but get some missionaries and preachers together and they will find a way to play golf together every time. First the spiritual (this eases my conscience) - but seriously.  I was once again amazed as Jeff Dove of Asia Pacific shared what God has...

Shack-done
Being one who wants to keep his promise - I want to give you my sum up of the book The Shack - without ruining it for those who have not read it.  First, let me say it’s definitely worth the read, but it’s also one of the most bizarre books I have ever read.  Now I always try to keep in mind when I am reading a book where I find myself at the time - so maybe the book didn’t buzz...

Great Perspective
Once in a while I get some things sent to me that really resonate and are just too good to keep to myself.  This one comes from my friend Mike Olejarz who is one of Chi Alpha leaders in the Boston area.  Thanks Mike for including me. Enjoy fellow blogites… The Story I was reading the biography of a scientist and how he wrestled with the application of his faith in Jesus to his witness in...

Shack - wind-up
OK - today is the day I will finish the infamous “The Shack”. In about an hour I will be boarding my flight for Jacksonville - (missions meeting and if I have to suffering for Jesus playing golf)  Anyway, I’m near the end of the book… so far - “interesting; intriguing; theologically a reach for me; enjoyable”  However I don’t know that it’s been as...
