Here we are in the middle of our 07’ missions convention. It has been an awesome time and now we are in full construction and set-up for our missions banquet and faith promise Sunday. It was these events that led to a stirring conversation at my men’s small group on Friday (today).  We all concluded that missions is about a whole lot more than just money or a busy time of the year or even perhaps the most important event of the year, though all of that is somewhat true. But I told the guys for me - missions convention seems to be a Holy Ghost imposed time of coming to grips with what is really important in life…or even more than that coming to grips with the core truths of the Bible.  I mean - “do I really believe in the Great Commission or is it something I just casually acknowledge?  I mean does the Great Commission really mean I might have to change my life priorities? Does it mean God is asking me to sacrifice my time, energy and most of all money for the sake of the gospel going to the whole world?  Does it mean that I have the courage to live outside of the realm of “comfortable Christianity?”  A friend once challenged me and said, “are you going to walk this Christian thing, or just talk it”.  Well there it is.  That’s missions convention in a nutshell.  A time when the Holy Spirit invades my space and asks me if I am really going to walk this thing - including a conviction that I too am responsible for the gospel going to the world…or am I just going to talk about it”.  Wow, maybe Galatians 2:20 is more that just a conviction of ancient Apostle.  Maybe it’s something I need to live out!”  Help me God!
