Living Sermon Illustration - me!

I finished my sermon for this Sunday just prior to the trip to Puerto Rico.  I am talking about being encouragers - seeing things from a higher level.  It’s the first message in new series on Life-lifters.

Little did I know God was going to test me to see if I practiced what I preached.  We had no longer arrived and I was in a frame of mind to relax (after a busy missions convention) and let the Lord just minister to me.  But the first night the lovely Donna and I had dinner with old friends, Paul and Arlene Grabel.  Talk about awesome people - whew…every time I am with them I am amazed. Paul had gone through surgery for cancer not long ago and I thought he had it whipped…but he told me he doesn’t.  He says if God doesn’t intervene…he’s out of here.  Hit me like a ton of bricks - even though I am cool and tried not to show it.  I just really hope the time we talked and spent together encourared him.  Of  course I had a sermon or two on healing for him…but he already knows more about this than I do.

I just told him I was going to choose to believe the good report.  We also had great prayer for him and Arlene.  Donna was super with her.  God we need Paul…he is brilliant and godly - please heal him.  His church needs him and your kingdom needs him.
