Another Big Hit!

This morning as I was reading Andy Stanley’s Book on effective ministry I was once again reminded of a point he makes that every organization must “clarify the win”.  Well, now two full weeks after our missions convention and our effort to do everything we can as a church and individuals to see the Great Commission fulfilled I think we may be on the way to another win.

Here’s why.  Yesterday I came into the office and the report for our faith promises was on my desk…and wow, it was well over $800,000.  That is amazing and confirms that I am not the only one living with the conviction that we must do some sacrficing in these end times if we are going to reach our world for Jesus!  Way to go folks. HOWEVER, I was mindful also of a phrase I heard a while back…”runners left of base don’t coun’t”.

So, the Lord reminded me that the faith promise was a BIG BASE HIT…a screaming line drive into the outfield…big bang of the bat heard by many.  Praise God that’s how it starts in both baseball and life.  But the goal is not to just get base hits…the goal is to get the runner home.  If he is left on base there can be no wins.  So we need to get our runner to the next base by praying in the money we have committed…that’s a big task.  And then we need to give it and our leaders need to get it to the missionaries and places where people can find Christ.  When people are findiing Christ, when students are being trained and released into ministry…when the Great Commission is truly being carried out and runners are scoring like crazy, that’s when we are winning.

I am praying that in these next weeks and months to come - we leave no runners left on base!
