Super High-Tech Prayer Closet

Over the years God has given me some wonderful places to pray.  First and foremost is my favorite chair at home for my daily prayer time.  But I’ve also had the opportunity to pray everywhere from the tops of Buddhist Shrines, to the Waling Wall in Jerusalem.  From ther Great Wall of China, to Red Square in Moscow.

But last night I had the opportunity to pray in the most high-tech of all these places…the inside of an MRI machine.  In case you don’t know what an MRI is see the picture above, but it basically takes readings of all the stuff in your body that may be injured.  For me right now it’s my left shoulder. (please pray the test comes back OK, I really don’t want yet another surgery, I’m too busy…and chicken).

Anyway, they put you down inside this thing and the clearance from your nose to the top frame is all of 2-3 inches.  Not a great place for those who hate close quarters.  So what do you do in a place like that, because you have to lie perfectly still for twenty minutes. For me it was a no brainer.  I didn’t dare open my eyes…to close for comfort.  So I closed my eyes and simply began to pray in the Spirit.  High-Tech prayer in a high-tech place.  Sounds downright spiritual, huh?  Well I must admit it made the time pass quick and the anxiety leave.  When I got out the technician asked me “how did you do in there”…and I told him “great”!  He simply replied, “really, I don’t hear that one too often”.

I just figured perhaps people didn’t notice a prayer closet when the see one!
