Merry Christmas Fervor!

OK….believers are raising up a voice of protest about this whole Merry Christmas versus Happy Holidays thing….thank God.  After my blog of several days ago, now I have a number of people speaking up.  And for those of you who didn’t see it, we have had a little email poem circulating around the church and some kind soul sent it to me.  It really says it all….it’s a little take off of Twas the Night Before Christmas… check it out below.

Also I was wondering if anyone might be interested in joining me some evening for a little Merry Christmas tour of Lowe’s on Route 23?  I would like to take a group of “very friendly, sincere and cordial” people with me to simply circulate through the store and wish employees and customers a Merry Christmas.  We would not be going to pass out tracts, or Bethany material, or be pushy in any way  (no fanatical stereotypes needed for this) we’re just simply wanting to show the love of God with a friendly greeting.

If you are interested let me know, you can email Bethany - bethanywyckoff@hotmail.com.  Please leave an email address if you are interested and we will get back to you as to when this might happen.

And now the poem….

T’was a month before Christmas, when all through the land,

Not a Christian was praying, or taking a stand.

Why the Political Correct Police had taken away

The reason for Christmas, no one could say.

The children were told by the schools not to sing,

About shepherds and wise men and angels and things.

It might hurt people’s feelings, the teacher would say,

December 25th is just another holiday.

Yet shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit.

Pushing folks down to the floor, just to get it!

CD’s from Madonna, an X-Box, an i-Pod.

Something was changing, something quite odd!

Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanzaa.

In hopes to sell books by Franken and Fonda.

As Target was hanging it’s trees upside down,

At Lowe’s the word CHRISTMAS was no where to be found.

At Kmart and Staples, and Penny’s and Sears.

You won’t hear the word CHRISTMAS, it won’t touch your ears.

Inclusive, Sensitive, and di-ver-si-ty,

Are words that are used to intimidate me.

Now Dashle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen,

On Boxer, on Rather, on Kerry, on Clinton!

At the top of the Senate, there arose a great clatter,

To eliminate Jesus in all public matter.

And we spoke not a word as they took out our faith.

Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace.

The true gift of CHRISTMAS was exchanged and discarded.

The reason for the season was stopped before it started.

So as you celebrate “Winter Break” under your “Dream tree,”

Sipping your Starbucks, listen to me.

Choose your words carefully, choose what you say,

Shout “MERRY CHRISTMAS,” not Happy Holiday !
