Christmas musings
Well now I can relax a little and take a few days off. After an outrageously (but fun) busy time now I can have some time with family and friends - read a couple of books…I started a new one this morning by Jerry Jenkins on the life of John Mark - a fictional account of his life based on the gospels and the book of Acts. So far - very good.
Christmas was awesome. Packed crowds in both services at church (always makes a preacher happy), and a wonderful celebration with family. Now my son John told me this blog was about me being transparent - so here goes. First, “no” nothing happened with the now famous “body lotion” I bought my wife… at least not yet.
Second, I got some cool presents - especially my 2008 memberships golf rewards card -which this year came with two free rounds of golf. Hope this shoulder gets better. If not both of my boys have already volunteered to use my free rounds.
I also got new socks and underwear… a man can never have enough of these things you know. Donna got a new IPOD - I may need to borrow when I travel…Oh yeah, I bought it for her.
The grandkids did great…I especially loved the laughing Elmo…too cool. It reminds me of what happened to people during the renewal…it’s true… he falls down, rolls on the ground laughing…Elmo has the joy of the Lord.
I finished off Christmas night better than Christmas eve when I tuned into the last part of the Broncos game to see them get smeared by the Chargers. One more game and the misery for 07 can end…ditto for the Jets.
But Christmas night, the whole family played Xbox and the rock and roll stars game. What they do with this tech stuff is amazing. Anyway, we laughed ourselves silly. Sarah did incredible for a 6 year old…Susie did great as the lead rock singer…even Sophia joined in. The rest of us - well we had fun. I tried drumming and kept getting booed off the stage…I was terrible. I did OK with bass guitar…but it’s harder than I thought.
Everyone fell asleep on the couch to finish off the night. And oh, yeah - my early morning personal worship time with God was wonderful. Try it some time.
