Presidential primaries and cheating
Well, we are now a few days into the new year and since I am back in the grind it feels about like last year did…busy!
I am however, pumped about our new theme in church for the year - Nothing is too hard for God! Services this weekend should be awesome. Our vision meeting went well considering the temp outside was freeeeeezing. I say it again - we have awesome people.
OK now to vent a little over other stuff. First, Presidential primaries. I remember when I was a teenager one of my favorite music groups was Jay and The Americans. Well they had a song called “Only In America” …some of the lyrics went like this: Only in America, Can a guy from anywhere
Go to sleep a pauper and wake up a millionaire
Only in America, Can a kid without a cent
Get a break and maybe grow up to be President.
Yeah right! I am really bugged by the whole idea that if you are not either filthy rich or greatly connected (or both) you could never be president.
It’s not about the best man or woman for the job. It’s about the best millionaire for the job. I don’t know if I can handle these next several months of rhetoric and media hype…can you? I mean I am delighted Hillary got blasted right off the bat…but by a guy named Obama? That scares me. Thank God we got a nice surprise so far on the Republican side. But the $$$$ thing drives me crazy. How many problems could be solved in this nation if they took even half the money used on these campaigns and put it toward solving the very issues these folks are talking about? Oh well please pray for me.
And one other thing - then I will complain no more this year. (right).
Sorry Patriot fans - but how can Bill Belichick be coach of the year in the NFL? Did or did not they catch him cheating? I don’t care if they did go 16-0…I don’t even care if they really are that good…and they probably are. Still we can’t go awarding those who cheat!
If all of these baseball players are being nailed…for cheating ( I guess)… and it is supposed to be such a horrible example to our young people…and even against the law to use steroids…then why in the world does the NFL get a pass? I mean Shawn Merriman of the Chargers was busted even earlier this year…and suspended! So how do we reward him? By claiming he is a cheater…NO, by naming him All-Pro and sending him to the Pro-Bowl with a big reward check! Give me a break, huh!
Oh, well that’s enough for today…just a thought.
