Tough Critters
Two days into the week of prayer and it’s been interesting and challenging. First interesting because I am always amazed how God speaks when we are willing to stop and take a little extra time.
The longer I live it’s awesome to see God take our time when we seek him and make it so worthwile. Even though there were only four of us at 6am it was a rich time of worship and prayer together. As a matter of fact I enjoyed it so much I took the pastors to the sanctuary at 9am and we spent an hour just worshipping, praying and “marinating” in God’s goodness. We will be back it again bright and early. I also know the Resting Place gang is spending several days fasting and praying at the church. It’s wonderful to see people so hungry for God.
The challenging part is the sleeplessness I often fight this time of the year. The enemy tests me to check out my endurance I think. So tonight I’m tired in body, but rich in spirit. Fasting is also always a challenge for me. I have done everything from one meal to 40 days and they all were hard…. at least for me. I just know we have to occasionally tell the ol body - it can’t always have it’s way.
I mean why is the flesh -such a tough critter to whip? During a week like this - I am mindful of why Jesus tells us to constantly abide in him. It’s the only way to tame those critters that keep us from seeing God clearly.
