Tomb Power !
There are several reasons I decided to start a blog…one was the young pastors around me told me I needed one…OK, that’s cool. Another was it gives me an opportunity to spout off about my various opinions - even if no one cares. Also it gives me an opportunity to hopefully share some of the insights that are important to me or that I read from others.
But it also gives me a change to encourage others concerning important things - and that’s my goal today. I want to wish everyone a wonderful passion weekend!
This is an amazing time of the year to simply stop and reflect. This morning as I was journaling and spending some time in prayer it hit me like a ton of bricks that this celebration of the cross and the empty tomb would be taking place even if I were the only person every born. God’s deep love for me would have still brought forth these measures of reconciliation (2 Cor 5). Wow, that will take you right to tears – trust me it did.
It made me rejoice and I hope it does you as well. But it also made me a little sad, to realize once again that I am such a sinner that my selfish life cost God his only Son on a cross. That is tremendously humbling!
But thank God the story did not end there! Jesus is risen. Sin couldn’t keep him down… and the Romans, the religious or others could not contain him.
This weekend we acknowledge the single greatest event in all of human history – the resurrection! And not only do we recognize the event – to this day we live in the power that was released. One of my favorite verses is found in Romans 8:11 – and if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who lives in you!
Enough said! Charge your batteries today with TOMB-POWER!
