“In Search of ?”

My how thIngs have changed over my years of travel.  It’s still not easy in some of these nations – but oh such much better than it used to be!  It’s actually quite amazing how far many of these nations have come with their progress.  Honestly, both Armenia and Georgia REALLY  surprised me.  And it’s also quite obvious that the world wide youth culture is a reality.  I have now seen it in nation after nation.  Granted the kids all look a little different, and there are some cultural things that will never change… but when it comes to high-tech gadgets, or clothes, or music… all the same.  (By the way…hey, Kevin and Denise Jonas – if you happen to read this my friends – well your boys are big here too).

Anyway with that said, there are some things we get accustomed to and long for – and so even when over here in places like this the search is still on.  Years ago there use to be this TV show called in “In Search Of ?”… then they filled in the blank with all these missing or mysterious things people were searching for…such as Noah’s Ark.

Well on Sunday as previously mentioned I went on my own search for Noah’s Ark.  A local pastor and friend Nick Puccini  took us.  Now if you know anything about Yerevan, Armenia – you have to know about Mt. Ararat and the famous resting place of Noah’s ark…. You know the big boat – with all the animals.

Well the mountain sits technically in Turkey but only a very short distance from the Armenian border.  All good Armenians also claim it as “their” mountain.  However, no matter who the mountain belongs to – it’s impressive as it’s snow covered peak towers over the valley below.  Now I am sure the ark is up there somewhere, but even without seeing the ark – just the sight of the mountain is a spiritual experience for sure!

Now I do want to add there was one more thing I found myself “In Search of” on this trip.  First and foremost was a sit down potty!  Thank God nature didn’t call and I didn’t have to do the squat thing… I just know I would do the “poo in the shoe” routine. (TMI; my daughter would say) But anyway, “hey world… in your quest for progress would you please remember us poor westerners who just can’t do the squatty potty thing…huh?”  And the other thing… I found my self “In Search of a Starbucks”.  The coffee is ok out here – but really since westerners are pouring tons of money into the economies of the world is it too much to ask for sit- down pottys and Starbucks?  I mean China, Thailand, and the Philippines at least got the Starbucks thing right.. now how about the rest of you.?  Just a thought!
