Hammer Swingers
I recently received a newsletter from missionary Randy Lindsey in Mexico and he made an amazing yet humbling comment in his newsletter. He made reference to the fact he too was a “hammer swinger”. Interesting term, huh?
Well it of course it refers to the Roman Soldier who nailed the spikes into Jesus hands and feet on the cross. But I got thinking about what really happened at the cross and now understand why Randy made the statement. See it wasn’t a Roman who nailed Jesus to the cross. He just carried out the assignment of the actual crucifixion. No the one who really nailed Jesus to the cross was me (and you sorry to say). It was my sin. I mentioned in my message this past Sunday…Jesus didn’t just die for perverts and thieves and liars, etc. He became those things. And there we were hammers in hand making sure he stayed up on that cross! So thanks for the reminder Randy… sadly, I too am a hammer swinger. Guilty as charged.
