Mother’s Day reflections…
Well let’s step away from world news and politics and even spiritual lessons for a bit and talk about Mother’s Day. To begin with we had a wonderful day at Bethany Church and the mother in the house - my Donna, shared most of the message. As usual she was great. I love her insights into scripture - and yes of course I am biased… ask me if I care.
Then it was home to have the family gather around and a great time of celebrating Mother’s Day with our three mothers in the family. Super food from a local Italian eatery; fun fellowship with the moms; lots of time with the grandkids; and even a little time to watch the TPC golf tourney in HDTV. God is good huh!
It also meant going outside and helping Sarah (now 7 years old and gorgeous) identify poison ivy… she just had to know what to stay away from. And yes, we did find some - actually a lot, and now she knows. I also had time to play with Sophia (now 13 months) and listen to her continual ‘Hi” and “cool” - the new words in her vocabulary. I think her mom and dad should have been teaching her..”go yankees” - but not yet…perhaps before summer is over. Of course then there is Brayden - better known as “bear”. He is 6 months younger than Sophia but outweighs her by 5 pounds and just is plain big. He enjoyed grabbing my beard and basically mauling each and everyone one of our faces now that he’s learning hand and eye coordination. And all of us are rejoicing that he got his helmet (band) off his head after having to wear it for the last 10 weeks… but his scull is doing great now. Thanks Lord.
So I hope all of you blogateers also had a wonderful mother’s day… as one of my assistant pastors said yesterday…”where would we be without our mothers?”…duh- I don’t think we would be anywhere.
