Yankee Stadium Boo-hoo
I was as sorry as most we said so long to our beloved Yankee Stadium - the house that Ruth built. I made my first trip there some 23 summers ago and have been there more times than I can count; but every time -even when the Yanks would lose - I still loved it. The dogs were the best, the stadium - palatial- and the atmosphere always electric. It was even fun running for your car to beat the huge traffic jams on the Degan and leaving to the sounds of Sinatra and New York, New York! Wow!
I will always have the thrill of being there with my kids and Donna and this year my granddaughter. I can even remember taking out of town guests all with smidge of pride. I was there for Mattingly’s grand-slam record and Strawberry’s 3 home-run night. I was also there for Jack McDowell’s famous naughty gesture to the fans and the win in the World Series against the Marlins. We got out picture taken on the field that night - thanks to our buddy Ben hooking us up with some tickets.
Donna and I also spent our 38th anniversary at the “Old Ball Park” on a gorgeous spring day and I will always cherish the memory. So I too bid farewell to one of the great places for memories in my life… I truly am going to miss you.
